20 Months! Whoa!
I am a terrible blogger and also, where did the time go? I've had two people tell me this week that I should be writing down all the stuff Violet is doing these days. So here I am.
She is changing so much these days. I feel like everyday she wakes up able to say something new. Like this week she started saying "Good morning!" when I go in to get her out of bed. It's the cutest thing in the world.
Vi has been a sponge when it comes to storytime songs. Recently, she's been singing the "Hello" song from Mother Goose Storytime. I love hearing her little voice. Other favorites are Baby Shark and Twinkle, Twinkle.
Today was a busy day. We started out at the library to help Oma with a project in the Makerspace. Vi is a strong willed little lady. She doesn't have much patience these days for doing things that aren't on her own agenda. I'm sure one day I will miss the moments of her grabbing my hand and dragging me where she wants me to go... today was not that day.
Violet is thoroughly embracing toddlerhood these days. Lots and lots of tantrums. I've read many blogs and books on how to deal with this glorious stage of development, but I have learned nothing that works. She's mastered the art of becoming a liquid. She's perfected the dramatic fall to the floor.
Last week we took Vi to see Santa at the Merriam Tree Lighting. We waited outside the community center for Santa to come down Merriam Ln. He was escorted by a police car which was another big hit for Vi. She just stared in wonder as he came down the street. Violet also insisted on bringing her felt Santa to the event. After that we went inside to meet the big guy. Waiting in line was the hardest part. At one point, Vi very dramatically fell to the floor and had the most lack luster tantrum I've ever seen. I ended up caving and giving her part of a cookie to distract her for the rest of the wait.
When it was finally our turn, Ben walked Vi up to Santa. I fully anticipated a stranger danger meltdown, but when I asked if she could give Santa a hug she went right up to him. She sat in his lap long enough for Mrs. Claus to hand her a toy and me to snap a picture of her mouth full of cookie.
Favorite Food: Currently a big fan of cottage cheese and fruit squeeze pouches and anything on a fork
Favorite Toy: Vi recently got a toy ambulance from Uncle Joel and Aunt Laura. She's obsessed with it and the little red head figurine that came with it. She calls him Uncle Shu Shu.
Favorite Show: Daniel Tiger, Simple Songs youtube videos, Clifford, and the Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear Song
Favorite Thing to Do Outside: Look under stumps for snakes, worms, and spiders; lay on the ground and look at the sky, we had a big snow 12/15 and Vi had a blast stomping in the snow and went sledding for the first time.
Favorite thing to Do Inside: Push stuff around-laundry baskets, strollers, her choo choo, etc.
Favorite Song: Bunny Hop, Baby Shark, Hello Song, Twinkle, Twinkle
Favorite Book: Anything having to do with potties, Peek-a-Bruce, Corduroy's Christmas
Least favorite thing: Getting diaper changed, Not getting her way
New Skill: Lots of new phrases- "I love you" "Good morning" Actually barking like a dog instead of panting

Funny Moments:
- Put on Daddy's boxers and started "working out". She loves doing push ups and squats with Dad.
- At Block Party Vi sat on a big foam block and pretended to go to the bathroom. She made the poopy noise, wiped, and then pretend washed her hands.
- Started saying "Aw man" which made me very aware of how often I say it.
Special events this month:
- Celebrated Thanksgiving and early Christmas with the Mathews clan. Violet sure brought in a haul of great gifts. Vi loved Nana's musical choo choo train and playing with her great grandmother's music box.
- Vi participated in her second Mother-Daughter Cookie Party. She ate wayyyyy too many cookies and sugar crashed pretty hard. She was a big fan of shaking the sprinkles. She also learned that plain flour does not taste good.
- We went to lots of storytimes and parks when the weather was nice. Vi had her first picnic play date with Tiegan at Antioch Park. They had a great time eating sandwiches and chasing squirrels.
- Went on a Christmas light tour around KC with the Sanders. Vi wasn't a fan of staying up past her bedtime. She ended up watching a lot of YouTube videos to distract her from tantruming.
- Christina came and visited. She gifted Vi with a Fox sleeping bag which she loves.
- 12/15 brought us a lot of snow! Vi loved watching it fall outside. She wasn't a big fan of putting on her snow suit, but the snow boots were a big hit. She's been wearing them around the house. Vi enjoyed stomping in the snow and went sledding for the first time.
